Job summary

City of Three Rivers Police Department is seeking a Part-Time Evidence Custodian to protect the integrity of property and evidence in Department custody. The role will lead an initial comprehensive evidence-room audit, strengthen procedures, and ensure accurate day-to-day management while maintaining strict chain of custody, security, and confidentiality.

The position is part-time, civilian, non-sworn, reporting to the Chief of Police or designee, with ~10 hours per week and a pay rate of $27.50

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a department vehicle.
• Ability to pass background investigation and pre-employment screening.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and detailed records.
• Strong organization and communication skills; able to work independently and learn computerized records systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead initial comprehensive audit of evidence room and reconcile items with records.
• Identify missing or discrepant items and coordinate resolution with police leadership.
• Review storage, security, access, retention, and chain-of-custody practices; document findings.
• Develop and update evidence/property policies, forms, and procedures; identify training needs.
