Job summary

The Michaels Companies in Fort Walton Beach, FL is seeking a Part-time Customer Experience/Event Coordinator to plan and run events like kids’ birthday parties and crafts classes. You will help customers in-store, guide them to products, and ensure a fast, friendly checkout process.

You’ll engage customers of all ages, lead activities, and assist with event add-ons while maintaining store standards and safety. Availability includes nights, weekends, and early mornings as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent people skills.
• Experience working with children and children’s events is preferred.
• Strong communication (written, verbal, and nonverbal) and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once (including children’s birthday parties and craft classes).
• Engage with clients of all ages; create a fun and engaging store environment.
• Instruct participants during crafts and provide demonstrations; perform face painting and activities.
• Handle event add-ons (goody bags, balloons) and communicate logistics with clients and store team.
• Complete administrative tasks (emails, calls, paperwork) and adjust plans based on client feedback.
• Set up, manage, and clean up before/after events; ensure safety and cleanliness standards.
• Support general customer experience tasks: assist shoppers, process checkout, promote rewards programs.
• Participate in stock, planogram, and store recovery activities as needed.
