Job summary

National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House in Arlington, VA, is hiring a part-time Counselor for our Coed IOP program for adults with substance use disorders. The role involves direct counseling services, both individual and group, under supervision.

Schedule is about 15 hours per week, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11am to 3pm. A 60 credit Master’s Degree is REQUIRED and eligibility to become a Resident in Counselor or Supervisee in Social Work is expected upon

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field required.
• Licensure as a professional counselor, clinical social worker, or substance abuse treatment practitioner preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in human services/substance abuse treatment setting.
• Knowledge of ASAM Criteria.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
• Coordinate all elements of the client’s treatment as primary counselor.
• Review pre-admission data, notes and medical history.
• Complete psychosocial assessment and entrance review for each client.
• Maintain client records with chronological progress notes and documentation.
