Job Summary:

The Facialist is responsible for providing high-quality facial treatments and skincare services to hotel guests. This role involves assessing the skin needs of guests, recommending and performing customized facials, and offering expert advice on skin care regimens. The Facialist will create a relaxing and rejuvenating experience for guests, using advanced facial techniques and products to enhance their wellness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for skincare, excellent guest service skills, and a commitment to delivering results-driven treatments in a luxurious spa setting.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guest Consultation & Customised Treatments
    • Conduct thorough skin assessments and consultations with guests to understand their skincare concerns, goals, and preferences.
    • Recommend and perform customized facials, including deep cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, anti‑aging, and acne treatments, based on each guest’s individual needs.
    • Provide expert advice on skin care routines, offering product recommendations for home care that complement facial treatments.
    • Ensure that guests are informed about the benefits, procedures, and aftercare of facial treatments.
  • Facial Treatment Execution
    • Perform a wide variety of facial treatments, including but not limited to deep cleansing, rejuvenating, anti‑aging, and acne facials, using appropriate techniques and products.
    • Apply and remove facial masks, serums, exfoliants, and moisturisers to provide an effective and relaxing experience.
    • Utilise equipment such as steamers, microdermabrasion tools, and facial brushes to enhance the effectiveness of treatments.
    • Provide facial massage techniques to promote relaxation and improve circulation, ensuring a soothing experience.
  • Guest Comfort & Relaxation
    • Create a calm and welcoming atmosphere for guests, ensuring their comfort and relaxation during the entire facial treatment.
    • Provide guests with a relaxing and stress‑free experience by maintaining a soothing environment, including adjusting room lighting, temperature, and music as appropriate.
    • Offer guests recommendations for post‑treatment care to ensure the best possible results.
  • Service & Product Knowledge
    • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of facial products, services, and trends in skincare to provide guests with the best possible advice and treatments.
    • Promote and sell spa retail products, including skincare lines and facial treatments, ensuring that guests have the option to continue their skincare routine at home.
    • Continuously educate guests about the benefits of different products, ingredients, and techniques to empower them to make informed decisions about their skincare.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
    • Follow all health, hygiene, and safety guidelines to ensure the safe and effective performance of facial treatments.
    • Ensure that all facial equipment and tools are sanitized and maintained according to established protocols.
    • Follow proper protocol in case of skin reactions, allergies, or contraindications, ensuring guest safety and comfort at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and serene treatment area, including cleaning tools, sterilising equipment, and restocking supplies.
  • Ensure that all treatment rooms are properly prepared before each guest appointment, ensuring a welcoming environment with fresh linens, towels, and products.
  • Follow proper sanitation and safety procedures in the spa to ensure a hygienic and safe environment for guests and staff.
  • Guest Satisfaction & Feedback
    • Engage with guests before and after treatments to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.
    • Address any concerns or questions guests may have regarding their skin, treatments, or home‑care regimens.
    • Handle guest feedback professionally, making adjustments when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the spa team, including receptionists, managers, and other technicians, to ensure a seamless experience for guests.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior staff or new hires when necessary.
  • Participate in spa meetings, team activities, and staff training to enhance personal skills and contribute to the overall success of the spa.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification in esthetics, cosmetology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • State or local licensure (if applicable).
  • Previous experience as a facialist or esthetician, preferably in a spa or hotel environment.
  • Knowledge of facial treatments, skincare products, and techniques.
Skills/Specialised Knowledge
  • Expertise in performing various facial treatments, including anti‑aging facials, deep cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration.
  • Strong knowledge of skincare products, ingredients, and techniques, with the ability to recommend suitable products for different skin types.
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills, with the ability to engage guests and provide them with a memorable, high‑quality experience.
  • Ability to assess skin conditions and customise facial treatments to meet individual guest needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanour in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using facial treatment equipment, including steamers, microdermabrasion tools, and facial brushes.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety guidelines in a spa or wellness environment.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, with occasional bending, reaching, and walking.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on treatments for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds (e.g., supplies, products).
  • Flexibility to work in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple appointments and tasks.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the spa’s operational schedule.
