Job summary

Danbury Public Schools seeks an ESL Test Examiner to determine EL status for newly registering students. The role administers and scores the English Proficiency Assessment, reviews transcripts, and may expand to community outreach and information sessions.

The position is part-time, non-union/confidential, and up to 35 hours/week at $22/hour, based at the Central Registration Center in Danbury, CT. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of ESL and SLA best practices.
• Familiarity with Connecticut's English Proficiency Assessment.
• Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese required.
• Experience with PowerSchool or similar District Student Data Management System preferred.
• Experience working with non-English speaking parents and students in a public school setting.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain an English Proficiency Assessment appointment calendar with registrars.
• Administer the English Proficiency Assessment, score and enter assessment data and communicate results to schools.
• Adhere to Home Language Survey Guidelines to determine eligibility for language services and placement.
• Conduct meetings to inform parents about results and available language services.
• Maintain accurate student test records and confidentiality.
• Verify compliance with registration laws.
• Coordinate testing data with ESL leadership and center directors.
• Create and distribute reports on incoming enrollments and data for reporting.
• Provide training on administration and scoring of the assessment.
• Engage in community outreach and translate as needed.
