Job summary

NOVA Workforce is seeking in-person ESL instructors to teach Part-Time ESL courses for ACLI at multiple campuses in the DMV area. Courses run semester-long with CEFR levels A1-C1, focusing on readiness for life, school, and work.

Instructors must deliver student-centered, communicative instruction, using Canvas for materials and assessments, and align with department rubrics and learning objectives.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of communicative language teaching methodologies (task-based, problem-based, project-based).
• Experience using Google Suite and Canvas/Blackboard for instruction (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, gradebook).
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for groups with varying ages and skill levels.
• Ability to use program rubrics to grade students.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Teach a Part-Time ESL course in person (50 hrs/semester).
• Demonstrate student-centered teaching methodologies in planning and presentation.
• Align instruction with curriculum and learning objectives.
• Design authentic, ongoing formative assessments.
• Utilize Canvas for course information and storage of student work.
• Integrate textbook and materials as needed.
• Evaluate entry/exit skills via diagnostics and exams using rubrics.
• Record student attendance.
• Complete mandatory training at hire and annually.
