Job summary

UofL Health is hiring an ER Tech/Unit Coordinator for the South Hospital ED in Shepherdsville, KY. The role supports clinical care under RN supervision, assists with admissions, discharges, phlebotomy, EKGs, and trauma care, and handles clerical tasks.

The position emphasizes patient safety, accurate charting, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment. Part-time hours include 11A-11P shifts, with BLS certification required and CNA/CMA/EMT preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED/equivalent required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT program, or nursing students who completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
• Certification as CNA, CMA or EMT preferred; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Measures and documents intake/output, heights, weights and vital signs.
• Applies, monitors and documents restraint usage; safety checks for high-risk patients.
• Obtains timed cardiac markers for patients with life-threatening heart conditions.
• Transcribes orders; enters physician orders into hospital systems; coordinates with providers.
• Transports patients, lab work, specimens and blood; assists with wound care and hygiene.
• Operates hospital equipment; stocks trauma room; assists with procedures and equipment setup.
• Performs venipuncture under RN direction; conducts routine 12-lead EKG with RN guidance.
• Updates patient files and billing system; collects signatures; ensures MRN accuracy.
• Provides care/support for orthopedic injuries; assists with splints, crutches and mobility.
• Adheres to infection control and HIPAA; participates in orientation and safety protocols.
