Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville, KY is seeking an ER Tech/Unit Coordinator to support clinical care in the Emergency Department during night shifts. The role provides under RN supervision, handling patient care, safety, and documentation in a fast-paced ED environment.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, patient transport, and assisting physicians and nurses with procedures while maintaining infection control and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program, or Nursing Students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Course from an accredited school of nursing (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Measures and documents intake and output, heights and weights, and vital signs.
• Performs venipuncture for specimen collection under the direction of the RN; appropriately labels and ensures delivery to the Clinical Laboratory.
• Performs routine 12-lead electrocardiography testing under the direction of the RN.
• Assists the RN or RT with the placement of nasal cannula and with procedure setup.
• Transcribes and enters physician orders into the computer; updates patient files and hospital billing systems.
