Job summary

Meadville Medical Center invites applications for a Part-Time Technician in the Emergency Department. The role assists nursing staff throughout the ED course, supports triage, and helps with direct patient care while maintaining aseptic technique and accurate data entry.

Key duties include ED procedures, splinting, IV insertions, patient transport, and coordinating with physicians. Proficiency with Meditech EHR, a legible handwriting, and current BLS are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• EMT, Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience in data entry or typing preferred.
• Previous clerical experience preferred.
• Legible handwriting.
• Fluent knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff with patient care throughout the ED course.
• Provides assistance in the triage process.
• Provides assistance to nursing/medical personnel in direct patient treatment.
• Adheres to standards of aseptic technique.
• Performs ongoing audit of supplies in ED department.
• Re-supplies ED department on an ongoing basis.
• Performs technical skills specific to the ED department.
• Performs splinting, application of orthopedic devices.
• Assists in the admission process.
• Accurately collects and enters patient information, including vital signs.
• Transports patients.
• Insertion of Intravenous catheters.
• Assists patients out of cars as necessary.
