Job summary

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in Orange, Texas, seeks a part-time educator to deliver curriculum-based programs to school groups and the public. You will lead onsite and outreach education, inspire learners, and collaborate with volunteers and staff in a dynamic, outdoor setting.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor degree and current Texas or Louisiana teaching certification, with classroom or informal education experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Current Texas or Louisiana teaching certification required.
• Teaching experience, either formal or informal, is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach onsite curriculum-based and outreach programs for school groups, Pre-K through 8th grade (70%).
• Provide interpretation during Outpost Tours (20%).
• Assist in training and coaching volunteers and staff (5%).
• Design and conduct workshops and programs for teachers and the general public (5%).
• Design and conduct summer camps as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.
