Job summary

Wethersfield Public Schools is seeking an English Learner (EL) Tutor at Corpus Christi School with a focus on helping EL students develop English language skills across listening, speaking, reading and writing. The tutor will support students in grades K-6 to achieve proficiency and academic success in diverse classrooms.

The position involves 2 hours per day, Monday through Friday, starting immediately. Compensation is hourly, and benefits such as healthcare or paid time off are not provided.

Qualifications

• Hold minimum of an Associates’ Degree.
• Teacher certification is preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work with students in a classroom, small group, and/or one-on-one.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide English Learner instruction and academic support through EL curriculum.
• Work directly with students in one-on-one, small group, or classroom settings.
• Monitor student progress and record performance data for EL coordinator.
• Provide positive feedback and encouragement to students.
• Foster a respectful, culturally aware learning environment.
• Attend professional development sessions related to EL instruction.
