ESL/ELL Tutor for K-8 – Part-Time Reading & Math Support

Job summary

Lowell Public School District is seeking a part-time ESL tutor to support Limited English Proficient students across grades at assigned Lowell schools. You will provide ESL and content-area tutoring, assist with reading and math instruction, and maintain student portfolios and records.

Under direct supervision of a certified teacher, you will communicate with parents and participate in district trainings, meeting up to 15 hours weekly at the school. Experience with SEI methods is preferred.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts ESL teaching certificate preferred; SEI endorsement preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 1–3 years of experience teaching language learners preferred.
• Ability to implement sheltered English and collaborate with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Provide ESL and content area tutoring to Limited English Proficient students.
• Provide reading tutoring for middle school students and math tutoring for elementary students.
• Maintain student portfolios and records; communicate with parents/guardians.
• Work under supervision of a certified teacher and participate in trainings.
