Job summary

McLaren in Michigan is seeking a Part-time Emergency Department Patient Care Assistant to support nursing and physician staff with patient care and clerical duties in a fast-paced ED.

You will assist with admissions and discharges, restock supplies, collect specimens, place IVs, monitor patients, and document observations. Requires EMT/MA/CNA or nursing student progress, BLS certification, ACLS preferred, and weekend availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months patient care experience in a health care delivery setting OR completion of the US Armed Services medic program.
• Certification as EMT, paramedic, MA, CNA OR nursing student with first Med/Surg rotation completed.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care, assisting nursing and physician staff with procedures.
• Inventory and restock ED equipment.
• Collect and transport specimens (urine, blood, cultures).
• Assist with admission and discharge, initiate and discontinue IV lines, clean and prepare rooms.
• Place patients on monitors, provide wound care, assist with procedures, and support ED operations.
• Record observations in the medical record and communicate care needs to staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
