Job summary

MercyOne Genesis in the Quad Cities region seeks an Emergency Department Registrar to deliver patient-focused registration and insurance verification.

You will greet patients, verify demographics, collect co-pays, and coordinate with precertification; training provided; no experience required. This part-time role includes day shifts with some weekends/holidays, offering growth within MercyOne Health System.

Qualifications

• Medical Terminology; CHAT; computer knowledge and strong computer/keyboarding skills

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all patient registration activities including greeting patients/families, processing patient registration efficiently, obtaining accurate demographics and insurance information, pre-registering patients, contacting precertification agencies when appropriate, obtaining necessary consents and serving as the initial contact for MercyOne Genesis patients.
• Register patients who present to the ED for ED services
• Register patients who present to the hospital for ancillary testing, outpatient procedures, or hospital admission
• Verify insurance benefits
• Collect deposits and co-payments for services and refer to Insurance Verification as needed
• Provide admitting documentation to medical staff and discuss payment arrangements with patients
• All tasks must be completed in compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, CMS and JCAHO guidelines and regulation
