Job summary

Qualifications

• No formal education required; entry-level PAR I position.
• Minimum one year of customer service experience; patient access experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems to support registration tasks.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all patient registration activities, greet patients/families, collect demographics and insurance information, and pre-register patients.
• Register patients presenting to the ED for services and those for outpatient procedures or hospital admissions.
• Verify insurance benefits and collect deposits and co-pays; refer to Insurance Verification team when needed.
• Provide admitting documentation for ED patients and discuss payment arrangements with patients as appropriate.
• Ensure all tasks comply with HIPAA, EMTALA, CMS, and JCAHO guidelines and regulations.
