Job summary

Glendale Unified School District is seeking substitutes for elementary yard duty, providing supervision to students during non-instructional periods and supporting campus safety. Assignments are part-time, 3.5 hours daily, with positions across Glendale, La Crescenta or Montrose areas.

These roles involve supervising in playgrounds, cafeterias, and hallways, enforcing rules, and collaborating with staff to maintain a safe, orderly environment for students.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of positive behavior modification strategies and techniques.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Reinforce positive behaviors, motivate, and address inappropriate behaviors with students.
• Understand and carry out verbal and written instruction.
• Deal firmly, tactfully, and effectively with students.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students in playground, cafeteria, halls and other areas during assigned hours.
• Monitors safety and enforces school rules and procedures.
• Escort students to various parts of the campus and assist health office as needed.
• Collaborates with staff to address behavior problems during supervision.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
