Job summary

Outreach is seeking a Part-time Elementary Teacher for the Carol Stream program. The role runs August 10, 2026 to May 21, 2027, averaging 20 hours weekly, with afternoons 2:30pm–6:30pm on school days.

Some evenings/weekends for events may be required; summer opportunities possible. Responsibilities include supporting an after-school classroom, supervising students, and delivering curriculum across academics, SEL, and Christian education.

Qualifications

• BA in education, social work, children’s ministry, or related field.
• 1–2 years of classroom or group experience with elementary-age kids.
• Experience with and sensitivity to needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
• Responsible, independent professional and a good team player.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
• Commitment to Outreach's Mission & Faith.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to build relationships and facilitate learning for elementary students in the after-school program.
• Oversee day-to-day supervision and education of one classroom of elementary students.
• Teach and guide students in homework support, academics, SEL, Christian education, and life skills.
• Maintain a student-friendly classroom that invites discussion, research, and learning.
• Implement and enforce behavior standards per Outreach's guidelines.

Part‑time Elementary Teacher at Outreach Carol Stream

Part‑time temporary employment from August 10th 2026 to May 21st 2027. An average of 20 hours a week, Monday – Friday. Working hours are 2:30pm–6:30pm on school days and potential work on non‑school days. Hours vary during school breaks and holiday weeks. Some evening or weekend hours are required for special events and other program needs. Summer opportunities may also be available.

Responsibilities

• The PT Elementary Teacher will collaborate with the Program Coordinator to build relationships with and facilitate learning for elementary students in the JNS after‑school program.
• The PT Elementary Teacher is responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision and education of one classroom of elementary students.
• The PT Elementary Teacher will teach and guide a classroom of elementary students in the daily after‑school program. Curriculum activities include homework support, academics, social‑emotional learning, Christian education, and life skills.
• Maintain a "student‑friendly" classroom that invites discussion, research, and learning, leading to an enriched experience and welcoming environment.
• The PT Elementary Teacher will implement and enforce standards for effective behavior management according to Outreach's standards.

Requirements

• BA in education, social work, children's ministry, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of previous classroom or group experience with elementary‑age kids.
• Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low‑income, high‑risk families.
• Responsible and independent professional, as well as an effective team player.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
• A valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
