Job summary

Lafayette School Corporation is seeking a Part-Time Paraprofessional at Vinton Elementary School to support students under the supervision of licensed teachers. The role covers 29 hours per week, Monday-Thursday with select Fridays, at a rate of $15.40 per hour, with duties across arrival, supervision, and instructional support.

Qualifications include 48 hours of earned credit and the ParaPro assessment, which may start at a lower pay rate if certification is not yet earned.

Qualifications

• ParaPro assessment completed or may start without certification at a lower pay rate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with students' arrival to and departure from school; help bus riders and monitor welfare.
• Escort students between classrooms, libraries, labs, and activity locations.
• Assist with personal hygiene and activities of daily living following universal precautions.
• Support teachers with functional assessments to gauge performance.
• Work with individuals or small groups using appropriate curricula.
• Tutor students applying instructional objectives with teachers and therapists.
• Help lift, position, and transfer students for activities as directed.
• Implement behavior management strategies in alignment with teachers.
• Assist with supplementary work and supervise independent study.
• Conduct prescribed reading and math programs.
• Assist with crisis intervention and classroom discipline.
• Supervise playground, lunchroom, and study hall.
• Operate equipment and assistive technology devices.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain supplies.
• Set up and maintain equipment and learning centers.
• Prepare individualized instructional materials.
• Observe and record student performance and behavior.
• Record attendance and maintain grade books and medication records.
• Attend staff or IEP meetings as requested.
• Study materials with teacher to develop curriculum skills.
• Perform general duties as requested by the teacher.
