Job summary

Liberty Elementary in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking an English Learner (EL) Paraprofessional for a part-time, temporary role starting January 2027 (second semester). The position supports classroom teachers, assists in monitoring student progress, and helps with data collection and records maintenance.

Requires an Associate degree or 48 semester hours (or 72 quarter hours) and English proficiency; knowledge of another language is a plus.

Qualifications

• An Associate's degree, OR completion of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours at an institution of higher learning, OR demonstrated proficiency in the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and mathematics via state or locally approved competency test.
• Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
• Maintains high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information.

Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Models appropriate behaviors for students.
• Develops and maintains professional rapport with teachers and staff.
• Assists students at arrival and dismissal of school.
• Supervises students during lunch and recess periods.
• Assists with grading and reviewing homework as instructed.
