Job summary

Castelar Elementary in Omaha, NE is seeking a part-time English Learner (EL) Program Paraprofessional for the 2nd semester starting January 2027. This temporary, non-exempt position supports classroom teachers and helps monitor student progress.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or 48 semester hours, English proficiency, and the ability to work with diverse students. Salary is $17.50 per hour, with schedule 5.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 sem hours (72 quarter hours) or tested proficiency to assist instruction.
• Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
• Ability to speak another language preferred, not required.
• Maintain high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead.

Responsibilities

• Assist individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Model appropriate behaviors for students.
• Develop and maintain professional rapport with teachers and staff.
• Assist students at arrival and dismissal.
• Supervise students during lunch and recess.
• Assist with grading and reviewing homework.
