Job summary

Right At School is seeking a part-time on-call Educator in Harvard, IL to work with students before and after school. You will lead activities, maintain a safe, structured environment, and build positive relationships with children.

The role emphasizes flexible AM/PM shifts, attendance, and communication with families, offering meaningful experience in education and child development.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13.
• Comfortable leading groups of children in activities and games.
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills with children and adults.
• Reliable and punctual; able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout a shift.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students, take attendance, and maintain records.
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons.
• Facilitate homework time and assist with academic tasks.
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions.

As an Educator, you'll work directly with kids — leading activities, facilitating a safe and structured environment, and building relationships — while gaining valuable experience in education and child development.

In short, your influence will shape kids' futures, helping them develop the skills they need to thrive in school, at home, and beyond.

Pay Rate: $15-18 per hour (based on education and experience)

Program Hours: Before School: 7:00am- 8:15am / After School: 3:00pm-6:00pm, Wednesdays 2:00pm-6:00pm

Location: Harvard, IL

What You'll Do

• Greet and check in students at the start of each session; take attendance and maintain accurate records
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons appropriate for the age group you'll working with
• Facilitate homework time and support with academic tasks as needed
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions, ensuring a safe and structured environment
• Address minor conflicts or behavior issues using positive guidance techniques
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up and drop-off regarding their child's day
• Report incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to your Program Manager or site lead promptly; log incident reports
• Set up and clean up program space and materials each day
• Attend brief daily team meetings to coordinate with other staff

What We're Looking For

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to support additional program locations if needed

Illinois State Requirements

• First Aid and CPR-in-person (ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
• Cleared tuberculosis test (ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
