Job summary

Right At School seeks an Educator to support before and after school programs in the Pennoyer Illinois School District. This role emphasizes safety, structured activities, and a love of learning for children under 13.

Shifts run in the mornings and afternoons with a requirement to work five days per week where possible. Ideal candidates have at least one year of childcare or school-based experience, the ability to lift 25 lbs, and a commitment to healthy living and teamwork in a dynamic school

Qualifications

• At least one year of verifiable experience working with children under 13 in a childcare or school setting.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• First Aid and CPR certification in person (or ability to obtain within 30 days).

Responsibilities

• Lead daily activities and curriculum that are educational and engaging for children.
• Attend and contribute to daily program meetings and drive team accountability.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment and positive behavior guidance.
• Monitor safety, attendance, incidents, and observations per protocol.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Right At School provides local school districts with before and after school extended day programs that focus on disguised learning activities and daily enrichment, dedicated to the success of all students. The mission emphasizes inspiring a love of learning, supporting schools, and giving families peace of mind. We build a team of mission‑driven individuals who are passionate about fostering a love of learning and creating safe, engaging experiences for children, bringing exceptional, affordable programs to as many students, families, and schools as possible while ensuring a safe environment for children to explore and grow.

Position Details

• Location: Candidates should be open to working at any of the schools we partner with in the Pennoyer Illinois School District. Preferred school locations cannot be accommodated as openings are based on program needs.
• Educator Pay Rate: $15–18/hour (based on education and experience)
• Program Hours: Mon–Fri: 7:00 AM–8:15 AM and 3:00 PM–6:00 PM; Wed: 2:00 PM–6:00 PM
• Staff must be available to work all five days for one or both shifts; partial shifts are not accommodated.
• Program Duration: Position extends through the 2026–2026 school year following the district’s calendar.

You'll drive the mission by

• Daily Program Meetings: Review goals and updates each day, share ideas, discuss professional progress, and encourage collaboration and team accountability.
• Organize and Facilitate Daily Activities: Prepare and lead structured daily fitness, activities, and curriculum that are both educational and enjoyable for all ages.
• Leading by Example: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring children enjoy themselves while meeting program goals through positive guidance and effective classroom management.
• Prioritize Safety and Joy: Monitor the environment, address potential hazards, and follow all safety protocols, including documentation of attendance, incidents, and observations.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Ideal Candidates will have the following

• Outstanding customer service and relationship‑building skills.
• Works well in a team environment.
• At least one year of verifiable experience working with children under 13 years of age in a childcare or school setting.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
• Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living.
• Flexibility to support additional local programs as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to meet state‑specific requirements.
• First Aid and CPR in person (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) if required.
• Cleared tuberculosis test (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) if required.
• Proof of MMR if required.
• 18+ years of age.
• Proof of high school diploma or GED required.
