Job summary

Right At School is hiring Educators to support before/after school programs across partner schools in Illinois. The role involves preparing engaging activities and fostering a love of learning in a safe, structured environment.

Candidates should be available to work on all five days for both shifts; the position follows the school calendar through 2025-2026. Minimum state requirements and training are provided as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of verifiable experience working with children under 13 in a childcare/school setting.
• Must meet state-specific requirements.
• First Aid and CPR (in-person) may be required and obtainable within 30 days of employment.
• Proof of MMR vaccination or documentation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Daily Program Meetings: review goals, updates, ideas and progress with the team.
• Organize and facilitate daily activities and curriculum aligned with program objectives.
• Lead by example to maintain a safe, nurturing environment and positive guidance.
• Prioritize safety and joy by monitoring the environment and following protocols.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Position Details

We are looking for candidates who are available to work all five days for one or both shifts. We cannot accommodate partial shifts at this time.

You’ll Drive The Mission By

• Daily Program Meetings: Each day, review goals and updates, share ideas, discuss professional progress, encourage collaboration, and team accountability.


• Organize and Facilitate Daily Activities: Prepare activities and curriculum for the day, ensuring they align with the program’s objectives. Organize and lead structured daily fitness, activities, and curriculum; that are both educational and enjoyable for all ages.


• Leading by Example: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring children are enjoying themselves while also meeting program goals. You will achieve this by modeling positive guidance and effective classroom management.


• Prioritize Safety and Joy: Monitor the environment, address potential hazards, and follow all safety protocols. These may include documenting attendance, incidents, and other observations.


• Communication: Effective communication with a varied audience, including children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Ideal Candidates Will Have The Following

• Outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills


• Works well in a team environment


• At least 1 year of verifiable experience working with children under 13 years of age in a childcare group type setting


• Ability to lift 25lbs


• Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living


• Flexibility to support additional local programs as needed

Requirements

• Ability to meet state-specific requirements;


• At least 1 year of verifiable experience working with children under 13 years of age in a childcare/school setting

• Cleared tuberculosis test (if required-ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)


• Proof of MMR (if required can documentation can be provided)


• 18+ years of age


• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
