The editorial assistant must be a well-organized individual with proven proofreading, editing, and project management experience, as well as a keen attention to detail; they should also be someone who can work both independently and as a member of a dynamic team. As a frequent first point of contact for the Office of Communications (and, by extension, the college), the person should also be able to communicate in a positive, professional, and collaborative manner with colleagues and external stakeholders and demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of diverse audiences and communities.
Greatest consideration will be given to candidates with a degree and/or experience in an English-, journalism-, or communications-related field. Strong familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook, Chicago Manual of Style, and Penn State's brand editorial style and visual identity standards and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and InDesign, and Canva are also desired.
