Basic Functions

EssentialFunctions of Position


Provide quality instructions, create and maintain an environmentwhich emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages freediscussion of ideas, interests and issues. Primary duties ofPart-time faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching;the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes asdetermined by the department. Part-time instructional faculty arerequired to be available to students outside of class.

Part-TimeFaculty Salary

The starting credit part-time faculty rate from salary table 11 is$102.90 per hour-Lecture and $82.33 per hour-Lab. If you have adoctorate, the rate is $107.87 per hour-Lecture and $86.30 perhour-Lab.

Education and Experience


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for thediscipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Boardof Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Facultyand Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

Master's in child development, early childhood education, humandevelopment, home economics/ family and consumer studies with aspecialization in child development/early childhood education oreducational psychology with a specialization in childdevelopment/early childhood education
OR
Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's insocial work, educational supervision, elementary education, specialeducation, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, lifemanagement/home economics, family life studies or family andconsumer studies
OR

Possess a combination of education and experience that is at leastthe equivalent to all of the above.

Selection Procedure:

The selection committee, who will recommend candidates for personalinterviews at SBCC, will initially review online applications. Ateaching demonstration will be required for selected applicants.After the initial interviews have been conducted, the committeewill recommend the top candidates to the Superintendent/Presidentfor a final interview. The successful candidate's name will then bepresented to the Board of Trustees for final approval andauthorization to hire. Candidates will participate primarily inremote interviews and in some instances final interviews may beconducted in person while observing all health and safety protocolsas approved by the Santa Barbara County Health Department.
