Job summary

The Young Women's Christian Association of Kalamazoo, Mich is seeking an Early Learning Professionals (ELP) part-time position in Kalamazoo, MI. The role supports the care and development of children ages 6 weeks to 12 years within a structured early learning environment.

We are looking for candidates with at least a high school diploma, some post-secondary education in early childhood, and experience with young children.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-high school education or training in early childhood education or child/family-related field, minimum Lead Teacher requirements by State of Michigan Child Care Licensing.
• Two years of experience working with young children and families; licensed childcare preferred.
• Understanding of Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Ages and Stages Questionnaire preferred.
• Ability to meet requirements of Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing.
• Satisfactory response to criminal and child abuse and neglect history checks.
• Able to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assists children in daily activities including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating.
• Organizes and implements age-appropriate learning activities within the approved curriculum.
• Observes and assesses using Teaching Strategies GOLD and ASQ-3/ASQ-SE.
• Supervises children's activities to ensure safety and socialization.
• Collaborates with Site Director, Program Coordinator, Community and Family Liaison and teaching team on programmatic or family concerns.
• Prepares activity materials, maintains room cleanliness and uses time effectively.
