Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher to support the classroom during instructional hours. The position assists with small-group activities, routines, supervision, transitions, behavior support, and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Early childhood education coursework and credentials preferred.
• Previous experience with young children preferred.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and supervision.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.

• Ability to work with diverse families and colleagues.
• Ability to obtain required background checks and health clearances.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Teacher and Full-Time Assistant Teacher in implementing planned lessons and activities.
• Reinforce early literacy, writing, math, communication, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills.
• Lead or assist with small-group activities, learning centers, read-alouds, games, and hands-on projects.
• Assist children in following routines, directions, tasks, and independent work.
• Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning spaces.
• Provide individual support to children as directed.
