Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher to support the classroom during assigned instructional hours. You will assist with small-group activities, routines, supervision, transitions, and student safety, helping create a nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Early childhood coursework or related credentials preferred.
• Experience with young children in childcare, school, camp or youth-development environment preferred.
• Ability to follow lesson plans, classroom procedures, and supervisory direction.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Teacher and Full-Time Assistant Teacher in implementing planned lessons and activities.
• Reinforce early literacy, writing, mathematics, communication, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills.
• Lead or assist with small-group activities, centers, read-alouds, games, and projects.
• Help children follow routines, listen to directions, complete tasks, and interact with peers.
• Prepare and organize classroom materials, centers, and supplies.
• Provide individual support to children as directed by the Head Teacher.
