Job summary

Riverdale Y is seeking a Part-Time Early Childhood Learning Specialist to join the Riverdale YM-YWHA in Bronx, NY. The role supports five classrooms of children aged two to five, collaborating with teachers and families in Early Intervention and CPSE processes.

This two-day-a-week, 8:00AM-1:00PM in-person position reports to the Director of Early Childhood. A Masters and NYS certification are required, along with strong advocacy skills and preparation for meetings.

Qualifications

• Masters in Early Childhood Special Education and NYS certification birth-2nd grade or actively pursuing a Masters.
• Excellent writer and oral communicator with ability to advocate for families.
• Experience collaborating with classrooms, families, and EI/CPSE processes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to develop differentiated instructional strategies.
• Identify children with learning differences through classroom observation.
• Support families to understand needs and advocate for services.
• Consult on best practices in learning support and inclusive teaching.
• Maintain records of student progress, interventions, and meetings with families.
• Participate in EI/CPSE discussions and team meetings.
• Provide small group or 1:1 interventions as needed.
• Lead professional development on evidence-based practices and inclusive education.
• Serve as a resource on best practices in special education.
