Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a part-time Activity Specialist for the Early Childhood program in Long Island City, Queens. You will create safe, engaging learning environments for preschoolers, plan movement-based activities, and collaborate with staff to support child development.

This role requires at least two years of preschool experience, strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two years of experience with pre-school age children.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Access/Adobe tools preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants at all times.
• Plan age-appropriate, engaging activities that promote development.
• Teach structured games and gross motor activities to build skills and confidence.
• Coordinate and present culminating performances when applicable.
• Collaborate with staff, teachers, and administration.
• Create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all participants.
• Maintain documentation such as attendance and incident reports.
• Support equipment and supplies management with the Early Childhood Director.
• Communicate YMCA values and program goals to families.
