Job summary

Elgin Community College seeks a part-time childcare support staff member to care for students' children on campus. Duties include planning age-appropriate activities, maintaining classrooms, and accurate daily records under supervision.

Role supports the college's mission and offers competitive hourly pay and benefits. Requires an AA or equivalent, DCFS licensing knowledge, and flexible scheduling including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• AA or equivalent degree or combination of education and experience.
• Meet DCFS licensing requirements and state guidelines.
• Knowledge of childcare development from birth to age six.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate, developmentally sound activities for children.
• Care for children and assist with hygiene and meals as needed.
• Support healthy eating and model proper table manners.
• Complete evaluations detailing cognitive, social, and developmental progress.
• Document attendance, meals, medications, drills, and incidents.
• Maintain open communication with parents about child progress.
• Complete required DCFS paperwork and licensing records.
• Assist in curriculum development aligned to developmental readiness.
• Maintain training, licensure, and certifications.
• Protect confidentiality and follow privacy laws.
• Respect diversity and support colleagues during busy periods.
• Adhere to attendance and punctuality guidelines.
• Provide back-up support to coworkers as needed.
