Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University's Cyert Center is hiring a part-time Early Childhood Aide to support classroom educators in a full-day program serving CMU families. The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate practice and safety.

You will assist with daily routines, maintain clean, safe environments, and engage with children in a warm, respectful manner. Background checks required; high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; bachelor’s in ECE/related field preferred.
• Must pass background checks and PA child protective clearances.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom educators during routines (snack prep, diapering, bathroom, cleanup, playground supervision).
• Maintain safety and sanitation per licensing and NAEYC guidelines.
• Help keep the center environment clean and organized.
• Demonstrate awareness of developmentally appropriate practice; support center philosophy.
• Ensure child safety on campus, playground, and during walks/field trips; report incidents.
• Assist educators in daily work with children and families with enthusiasm.
• Interact with children in a friendly, respectful manner; provide one-on-one time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
