Job summary

Union Settlement Association in New York City’s East Harlem is seeking a part-time Teacher's Aide to support the Early Childhood Education program. This role assists the Group Teacher, helps implement the agency curriculum, and supports daily activities and child supervision.

Hours are 8:30am-1:30pm or 1:00pm-6:00pm on-site, with a pay rate of $20.00 per hour. A High School Diploma or GED is required; CDA is preferred and bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with enrollment to an accredited college or university, pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education or related field; or CDA enrollment.
• CDA credential preferred and must be current to be valid.
• One year of experience working with preschool-age children preferred.
• Requires PETS and SCR clearances.
• Head Start Performance Standards knowledge preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing educational goals appropriate to children's age and development.
• Prepare and execute weekly lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.
• Maintain equipment and materials in good condition for child use.
• Report damaged equipment to supervisor for action.
• Assist in arranging classroom furniture for optimal program functioning.
• Share information about the program with parents and maintain confidentiality.
