Job summary

Lamar Institute of Technology in Texas is seeking a part-time Drone Instructor to plan and deliver beginner-level drone pilot training that prepares students for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate exam. You will provide instruction on drone fundamentals, aviation concepts, regulations, safety procedures, and responsible drone operation in a supportive learning environment.

The position reports to the Executive Director of Workforce.

Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required or preferred.
• Experience operating drones and/or providing drone instruction or training.
• Strong instructional and communication skills.
• Ability to explain drone concepts to beginners.

Responsibilities

• Plans and facilitates beginner drone pilot training sessions.
• Assists students in developing knowledge and foundational skills for FAA Part 107 exam.
• Introduces students to basic drone operations, safety practices, and pre‑flight procedures.
• Explains FAA regulations, airspace classifications, and weather concepts relevant to Part 107.
• Monitors student progress and provides feedback to support learning and exam readiness.
• Maintains attendance and training records.
• Promotes a safe and positive learning environment.
