Job summary

Positive Tomorrows, Oklahoma’s only tuition-free private school for families experiencing homelessness, seeks a part-time Driver to transport students to and from the campus. Shifts primarily run morning 7:00–9:00 and afternoon 3:00–6:00, totaling about 25 hours weekly. Eligible for full benefits including medical, dental, and PTO.

Starting pay is $20.88/hour, with CDL eligibility increasing to $21.88/hour. CDL within 6 months supported by paid training.

Qualifications

• CDL class A or B with passenger and school endorsements required or willing to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on time for morning and afternoon routes.
• Review route changes with Transportation Fleet Coordinator.
• Prepare vehicle for routes and check safety concerns.
• Account for children and ensure safe delivery.
• Manage behavioral issues per incident procedures.
• Report vehicle problems and concerns to supervisor.
• Maintain communication with PT staff and check email.

Company Description Positive Tomorrows is Oklahoma’s only tuition-free private school dedicated to families experiencing homelessness, serving students from Early Head Start through 6th Grade. Positive Tomorrows offers a compassionate, mission-driven environment where team members contribute directly to students’ well-being and long-term success.

Role Description The Driver is a part-time staff member of Positive Tomorrows, responsible for safely delivering children to and from the school in Positive Tomorrows transportation. Vehicles to be driven include a school bus and vans. Work hours may vary but primarily begin at a specified time in the morning (approximately 7 am – 9 am) and again in the afternoon (approx. 3 pm – 6 pm), lasting until the daily route is completed - approximately 25 hours a week. In addition to the regular school route, the driver may be asked to report for other Positive Tomorrows activities. This part-time role is eligible for our full benefits package including medical, dental and paid time off.

Pay Rate

$20.88 / hour to start, or $21.88 with CDL

Qualifications

• Current CDL class A, B with passenger and school endorsements -OR- willing to obtain CDL within 6 months of employment, while driving van. Paid training and testing are provided.
• 25 years or older
• Education/Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years of work experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Arrive at Positive Tomorrows on time for morning and afternoon routes.
• Report daily to the Transportation Fleet Coordinator to review route changes and students’ needs which may arise during the day.
• Prepare vehicle for the day’s route.Check for safety concerns.
• Account for children who board the bus/van and make sure all children are safely delivered.
• Manage any behavior issues which may arise and report as necessary, following Positive Tomorrows Incident Report procedures.
• Maintain appropriate communication with supervisor, reporting vehicle problems and concerns, problems with students and family members, and any concerns regarding the route.
• Stay in regular communication with the rest of the PT staff, checking email and mailbox regularly.
