Job Description: Donation Center Associate

The Salvation Army Mission:

Job Objective:
Provide excellent customer service to donors at the donation door, maintain a clean and organized donation area, and handle transactions accurately.

Essential Functions:

- Present a professional appearance, adhering to dress code.
- Greet donors with a friendly demeanor and offer assistance.
- Maintain a clean and organized donation area.
- Manage operations and security while on duty.
- Receive donations, issue receipts, and collect email addresses from donors.
- Safeguard donated materials and equipment.
- Track donations according to center policy.
- Inform donors about unacceptable materials and arrange for pick-up of heavy items.
- Power sort donations where applicable.
- Report complaints, damages, or injuries near the donation area.
- Sort, load, and unload Salvation Army trucks as per policy.
- Support production processes as needed.
- Be available for a flexible schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or currently pursuing.

Skills/Abilities:
- Effective communication in English, both written and spoken.
- Basic computer skills, including payroll systems and adaptability to new programs.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Problem-solving skills involving multiple variables.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and background tests.

Physical Requirements:
Employees must regularly stand, handle, feel, hear, and talk. Frequently walk and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and focus adjustment.

Travel: Occasional travel for store visits or training.

Working Conditions:
Work environment is a store with quiet to moderate noise levels. Conditions may be dusty with temperature fluctuations. May stand for extended periods and be exposed to outdoor weather. Full-time/Part-time position requiring weekend and evening hours.
