Job summary

Saia is seeking a dock worker to sort and handle freight in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. You will load and unload using forklifts and pallet jacks, following safety and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities include verifying shipments, applying proper securing methods, maintaining equipment, and contributing to a safe work environment while supporting efficient, claims-free deliveries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift certification or hazmat training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment in compliance with regulations.
• Operates dock tools to secure freight and maintain straps, bars, air bags, cardboard, and dunnage.
• Verifies shipments by reading labels and correctly securing freight for loading and unloading trailers.
• Follows bill of lading and quality control procedures to ensure timely, cost-efficient shipments.
• Logs, reports, and processes shortages and damages to freight.
• Promotes and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
