Job summary

The Arc Eastern Connecticut is seeking a Direct Support Professional (PT) to provide training and support in Groton, CT. You will work with participants to enhance independence across daily living, recreation, and community activities, following individualized plans.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license. The role offers weekend/evening shifts and opportunities for advancement within an inclusive program that supports health and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Experience with people who have developmental or physical disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to mentor and assist in life skills including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Applicants must be able to speak/write in English and have basic computer aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training, support, and assistance in personal care, recreation and leisure, daily living skills, social skills, health needs, personal preferences, exercising of individual rights, community integration, and behavior management.
• Design, implement and monitor the participant's individualized support plan with observations contributing to tailoring the plan.
• Accurately administer prescribed medications as ordered by physicians.
• Complete required documentation including program data, incident reports, daily logs, progress notes, and health records.
• Ensure health and safety including prevention of abuse, CPR, first aid, Heimlich, and evacuation procedures.
• Provide transportation to recreational and community activities.
• Prepare meals following published menus.
• Mentor and assist participants in life skills areas.
