Job summary

The Dietary Cook at Arbors at Minerva is responsible for preparing meals that meet residents' dietary needs using proper food handling and safety standards. This part-time position emphasizes attention to detail and delivering meals with quality and consistency.

Responsibilities include reviewing menus, preparing regular and therapeutic diets, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen. Previous food service experience is preferred, with ServSafe certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe food preparation, handling techniques and basic nutrition.
• Skill in quantity food production and basic math.
• Effective communication with residents, families and all levels of the organization.
• Ability to be accurate, concise and detail‑oriented.
• Strong English communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Reviews menus prior to preparation of food.
• Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu, as instructed by the supervisor.
• Prepares alternative items to meet residents’ individual needs and preferences.
• Prepares and/or portions food using proper food handling and safety techniques according to established policies.
• Prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations and company procedures.
• Makes authorized changes to the planned menu and records the change.
• Ensures that food tastes good and is served at the appropriate temperature in an attractive, appetizing manner.
• Ensures that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies.
• Utilizes standardized recipes to prepare menu items.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
