Job summary

Luther Park Community in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a flexible, part-time dietary aide to help serve residents of our Alzheimer's/Dementia, long term and skilled care facility at the Trinity Center.

Shifts are 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with every-other-weekend work. Responsibilities include meal preparation, serving, tray setup, sanitation, and assisting with cleanup in a supportive, caring environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a High school diploma or GED and at least 18 years of age.
• Able to read, write and follow instructions in English.
• Previous foodservice experience desirable, but not necessary.
• Post-offer employment physical, drug screen, and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Complete simple food preparation tasks.
• Assist in keeping the kitchen clean and in order at all times.
• Pour beverages and serve on trays at the correct temperature and in amounts called for.
• Fill orders for between-meal nourishment.
• Prepare and serve desserts, salads, fruits, dry cereals and bread on trays at the proper time and temperature.
• Wrap flatware in napkins and set up trays with napkins, flatware, condiments and diet cards.
• Assist with tray service to residents in the dining area and pick up dirty trays after service.
• Assist with dishwashing and general cleaning.
• Maintain clean dishwasher and washing area, salad worktable, dish storage cabinet and food carts.
• Sweep and mop floors when food is not being prepared or served.
