Job summary

Transdev in Arlington, VA is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety and longevity of assets.

This Part Time position offers hourly pay ranges based on experience, with benefits including ASE testing, training materials, and tool reimbursement. DOT drug testing and physical may apply.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• Electric and CNG bus experience strongly preferred.
• CDL strongly preferred; DOT drug testing compliance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines in various vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and PMs to prevent failures.
• Collaborate with team to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
• Lead diagnostic tests and develop comprehensive repair strategies.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians and mentors.
• Complete safety inspections and annual maintenance inspections.
• Other duties as required.

Transdev in Arlington, VA is seeking an experienced A-Level Diesel Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our diesel-powered assets.

Hourly pay ranges based on experience & job classification:

• Tech A $43.05 plus $.25 per ASE Tech B $ 34.65 plus $.25 per ASE Tech C $32.55 plus $.25 per ASE

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs
• Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
• Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• Electric and CNG bus experience strongly preferred.
• CDL strongly preferred.
• ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.

• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
