Job description

Job Title: Part-Time Development Associate
Job Description

The Part-Time Development Associate focuses on donor stewardship and relationship maintenance during a busy giving period, ensuring donors receive consistent, thoughtful care and personal attention. Working a flexible part-time schedule during normal business hours, this role strengthens donor relationships through gratitude-driven outreach and well-organized follow-up, using provided communication templates and priorities from the Mid-Major Gifts team. The position supports existing workloads and is dedicated to sustaining meaningful donor engagement rather than developing fundraising strategies or soliciting gifts.

Responsibilities
  • Make outbound thank-you calls to donors, with a particular focus on year-end and holiday gifts, emphasizing gratitude, appreciation, and relationship building.
  • Use pre-written and approved stewardship materials to communicate with donors, including personalized emails, impact updates, holiday greetings, and other donor communications supplied by the Mid-Major Gifts team.
  • Conduct routine stewardship outreach to donors in the assigned caseload to maintain a consistent and personal connection during the primary gift officers absence.
  • Record all donor interactions, including calls, emails, responses, and other stewardship activities, in Salesforce to maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Ensure donor information and activity history documented clearly so the primary gift officer can seamlessly resume donor relationships upon their return.
  • Respond to basic donor questions and acknowledge donor correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate follow-up with other Development Associates or appropriate team members when donors require additional assistance or information beyond the scope of this role.
  • Support year-end and holiday stewardship initiatives, including donor appreciation efforts, seasonal communications, and outreach to donors identified by Mid-Major Gifts leadership.
  • Follow established donor outreach priorities and use provided communication templates, ensuring consistency with organizational messaging and stewardship goals.
  • Maintain organized workflows and manage time effectively to balance multiple donor outreach tasks within a flexible part-time schedule.
Essential Skills
  • 1 to 2 years of experience making outbound calls, preferably in a donor stewardship, customer service, or similar relationship-focused role.
  • Proven comfort and confidence making outbound phone calls to express appreciation and build relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate warmth, gratitude, and professionalism in every interaction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear, courteous, and engaging donor outreach.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for managing communications and documentation.
  • Experience using a CRM system, ideally Salesforce, to record and track donor interactions and activities.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and manage multiple outreach tasks.
  • Ability to self-manage daily responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and work independently within a remote environment.
  • Friendly, approachable personality that fosters trust and positive donor experiences.
  • Reliability and consistency in following established stewardship processes and communication guidelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or another CRM system, with willingness to learn and receive training as needed.
  • Experience in donor relations, fundraising support, customer service, or a similar field focused on relationship maintenance.
  • Ability to follow provided communication templates while maintaining a personal and authentic tone with donors.
  • Comfort working within a structured stewardship program where outreach priorities and assignments are defined by the Mid‑Major Gifts team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle basic donor questions and route more complex inquiries to appropriate team members.
  • Capacity to support team workload during peak giving seasons by providing consistent donor care.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in handling donor information and communications.
