Job summary

Glynn County Government's Police Administration in Brunswick, GA is seeking a Police Sergeant to conduct complete administrative investigations of alleged employee misconduct, including potential criminal and civil rights issues, and to ensure compliance with CALEA and state certification standards.

The role requires at least five years in law enforcement with supervision experience, a valid Georgia POST certification, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement experience, including one (1) year in internal affairs investigations and 18 months in a supervisory role at the rank of Sergeant or higher.
• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 40 semester college hours from an accredited college/university or 400 hours of advanced law enforcement training or a combination thereof.
• Valid Georgia P.O.S.T. Peace Officer certification or eligibility through equivalency; must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct internal affairs investigations to ascertain facts and obtain evidence on alleged violations and misconduct.
• Interview involved parties and obtain statements; collect and review evidence.
• Prepare comprehensive and detailed reports of investigations.
• Testify in administrative hearings.
• Maintain knowledge of departmental policies, county ordinances and state laws sufficient to perform duties and ensure CALEA accreditation.

Summary: Conducts complete and objective administrative investigations of alleged employee misconduct, including allegations of criminal law violations, civil rights violations, or departmental policy violations. Manages and ensures compliance with state certification and CALEA accreditation.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains a level of understanding and familiarity with the department's policies and procedures, county personnel policy, county ordinances, state laws, and case law sufficient to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Manages and ensures departmental compliance with GACP state certification and CALEA accreditation standards.
