Job summary

SCCCD International Education is seeking an experienced Dental Assisting Instructor to join our part-time faculty pool. The role involves teaching scheduled Dental Assisting courses using varied pedagogies and tech-enabled delivery for in-person, online, or hybrid formats.

Responsibilities include communicating with students and staff, aligning to approved curricula, evaluating progress, providing syllabi, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or Associate degree and six years.
• Current license in California as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or immediate eligibility to obtain a California license.
• Certification in coronal polish, X-ray, and sealants.
• Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion in instruction.
• Experience engaging racially minoritized and diverse student populations.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success.

Responsibilities

• Teach a part-time schedule of Dental Assisting courses as assigned.
• Use diverse instructional delivery methods including technology for face‑to‑face, online, and/or hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff.
• Adhere to approved curriculum outlines of record.
• Evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and exams.
• Provide course syllabi to students.
• Maintain classroom records per District Policy.
• Submit grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
• Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times.
• Fulfill duties of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher
