Job summary

The City of Fort Lupton is seeking two part-time custodians to join our facility maintenance team. Shifts include weekday evenings or weekend coverage with paid hours up to 20 per week, depending on the assignment. Responsibilities include interior and exterior cleaning, floor care, waste removal, basic maintenance, and safety compliance.

High school diploma or GED preferred. Must have a valid Class R Driver's License; CPR/First Aid/AED training attainable within 90 days.

  • Perform interior custodial duties: mop, dust, vacuum.
  • Use floor cleaners for polishing, buffing and waxing.
  • Exterior custodial duties including snow removal and litter pickup.
  • Remove waste and ensure safe disposal of trash.
  • Clean and disinfect fixtures, floors, walls, and surfaces.
  • Restock supplies and assist in training other staff.

Job description

Summary

There are 2 openings for the Part-time Custodian position:

Position 1: Monday - Friday (6:00pm - 10:00pm) 20 hours per week

OR

Position 2: Saturday (9:00am - 6:00pm); Sunday (10:00am - 7:00pm) 16 hours per week

Performs standard, interior and exterior janitorial/minor maintenance duties involving cleaning and disinfecting City facilities and public domains and performs lawn attendance and other grounds keeping duties, including snow removal.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform interior custodial duties involving mopping, dusting and vacuuming.
  • Use mechanical floor cleaners to polish, buff, strip and wax floors, and vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Perform exterior custodial/maintenance duties including snow removal and picking up litter.
  • Remove waste and soiled linens from work area and gathers and disposes of trash and waste, some which may contain hazardous materials.
  • Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls, including those in kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, locker rooms, and weight rooms.
  • Restock supplies.
  • Moves, removes and relocates furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc., as directed.
  • Order supplies and equipment repairs, as authorized by supervisor.
  • Observe all common safety practices.
  • May perform minor maintenance repair such as unstopping toilets and sinks, and replacing burned out light bulbs.
  • May patch and paint walls.
  • May operate scissor lift.
  • May assist in training and checking the work of other employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret chemical instructions and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Qualifications And Requirements
Education Requirement

Graduation from high school or a GED certificate, preferred.

Experience Requirement

None.

Licensure And/Or Certification

Must have valid Class R Driver's License

CPR or attainable within 90 days from date of hire

First Aid or attainable within 90 days from date of hire

AED or attainable within 90 days from date of hire

Level of Supervision: May perform lead work on a job-by-job or rotating basis.

The position is responsible for coordinating and supervising several tasks in which several phases may be in progress at once.
