Job summary

CJR in Waterbury, CT is seeking a Part-Time Culinary Instructor for the SAFE Waterbury program, teaching basic culinary skills, food safety, and nutrition as part of a summer learning initiative.

You will prepare snacks and meals, supervise youth in kitchen activities, and maintain a safe, clean environment, working with staff to implement curriculum and engage students in culinary careers.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in food service, preferably in institutional or large-scale cooking settings.
• Valid ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety credential.
• Experience with vendor ordering and inventory management.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and supervise youth and collaborate with team members.
• Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and credibility.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team and foster a positive, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare snacks and meals to support hands‑on learning.
• Instruct youth in culinary skills, kitchen safety, and nutrition.
