Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties seeks a part-time Culinary Arts Instructor for Gordon Family YMCA in Sumner, WA. The role involves leading culinary classes, curriculum development, and promoting YMCA values in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in culinary arts and 1–2 years teaching, with ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED. Flexible scheduling supports students and families; background checks are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of formal culinary arts training or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of experience as a culinary arts teacher or teaching assistant preferred.
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.

Responsibilities

• Teach and demonstrate sound culinary techniques to participants.
• Create lesson plans within budget and align with YMCA curricula and values.
• Attend YMCA events, communicate progress to directors and members.
• Assist in campaign goals by sharing the Y story and events.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and proper storage after classes.
