Job summary

Langara College invites applications for a part-time Instructor - Criminal Law (CRIM 1216) for the Spring 2027 semester. The position runs Jan 1, 2027 to Apr 30, 2027 and includes teaching Criminal Law on Fridays 12:30–15:20.

Applicants should hold a Canadian LLB or JD with criminal law experience and have demonstrated post-secondary teaching ability. Excellent English communication and a commitment to teaching excellence are essential. Hybrid-work options may be available for eligible positions.

Qualifications

• Canadian LLB or JD with experience in criminal law.
• Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and student support.
• Ability and willingness to contribute in department meetings and initiatives.
• Preference given to applicants who recently taught this course or have grad coursework in the area.

Responsibilities

• Maintain currency and strive for excellence in instructional practices and approaches.
• Maintain currency in relevant subject areas, including global/local trends, issues, and opportunities.
• Ensure effective use of available class time, and maintain appropriate office hours for student consultation.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships.
• Actively seek opportunities to integrate students and learning into organizations and/or the community.
• Participate in program design and review as needed.
• Be a positive, active contributor to initiatives within the Criminal Justice Department, Community Programs Division, Faculty of Social Sciences & Community Programs, and the College.
