Job summary

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is seeking a court deputy to perform a variety of duties including enforcing law in the courthouse, escorting inmates, and supporting judge’s needs. The role is safety sensitive and requires active law enforcement credentials.

Applicants must be Florida Law Enforcement Certified or enrolled, a U.S. citizen, at least 19, and have a HS diploma or GED. Strong observation, judgment, and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must be Florida Law Enforcement Certified or currently attending a Florida Law Enforcement Academy.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Wonderlic Basic Skills Test with Verbal 267+ and Quantitative 241+ if no Associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform law enforcement duties in courthouse and holding facilities.
• Escort inmates to and from the correctional facility and to court.
• Guard inmates during court appearances and manage safety in the courtroom.
• Maintain order, search areas, respond to alarms, and coordinate with deputies and detectives.
