Job summary

Midland County is seeking a dedicated security professional to protect the Courthouse and Annex, enforce laws, and respond to emergencies. The role includes searches, foot patrols, supervising entrances with x-ray/metal detectors, and arrests with documentation.

On-call duties and court-related duties are part of the job. Required certification includes Basic Peace Officer and Jailer; prior experience may be needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in law enforcement or jail operations preferred.
• Ability to read and write reports, letters, and memos.
• Knowledge of Penal Code and jail standards.

Responsibilities

• Protects the Courthouse and Annex, officials, employees and patrons; enforces laws; and performs emergency response functions in county buildings.
• Conducts searches of persons, outdoor areas, and buildings, for weapons and contraband.
• Foot patrols the County Courthouse and Annex with emphasis on security and assisting occupants.
• Operate x-ray, walk-through and hand-wand security screening at main entrance.
• Arrest violators and complete necessary reports.
• Respond to county building alarms, calls, and complaints.
• Maintain TCOLE hours and training and perform special assignments as directed.
